Immigrant, single-parent, and neurodivergent families face severe systemic, linguistic, and financial barriers when attempting to access mental healthcare. Traditional clinical solutions are often culturally homogeneous, prohibitively expensive, and lack preventative frameworks. Additionally, the rapid introduction of digital technologies and AI platforms has created an educational vacuum, leaving parents without evidence-based guidance on managing digital well-being, early childhood cognitive risks, or emotional regulation. This gap leaves marginalised populations isolated, widening socioeconomic divides, and fracturing community social cohesion

Reimagining Mental Healthcare Access

This leaves immigrant, single-parent, and neurodivergent families facing systemic, linguistic, and financial barriers when trying to access critical care.

Furthermore, the rapid introduction of digital technologies and AI platforms has created an educational vacuum. Parents are left without evidence-based guidance on managing digital well-being, early childhood cognitive risks, or emotional regulation. This gap leaves marginalized populations isolated, widening socioeconomic divides and fracturing community social cohesion.

Education

CMCF’s education wing builds on a foundation of hands-on, community-rooted programming that bridges emerging technology with child development. Since 2022, our team has delivered STEM-based workshops and literacy programs in Calgary public libraries, engaging children and families through creative, inquiry-driven learning. We expanded this work through initiatives like the “Neuro-Creator: AI Enhancing Emotional Intelligence” workshop, developed in partnership with doctoral researchers from Concordia University and Griffith University, which explored how artificial intelligence can support cognitive skill development and youth mental wellness. Our multi-episode live series on AI implementation in early childhood development further examined how families and educators can harness emerging technology to enhance learning while safeguarding children’s emotional health, thus convening child psychologists, technology founders, and academic researchers to shape practical, evidence-informed guidance for parents and educators.

Looking forward, CMCF’s education wing will scale this integrated approach, combining STEM literacy, AI and digital literacy, and neuro-educational programming into structured, replicable curricula for youth across diverse communities. We envision expanding our library-based and community workshop models into broader school and organizational partnerships, equipping children with the creative, technical, and emotional foundations to thrive in an AI-augmented world, while ensuring every program remains culturally responsive and accessible to immigrant, first-generation, and underserved families.
